A hub or switch is a networking device that allows multiple computers to share a single common resource, such as a printer. They are generally connected together in order to allow them to communicate with each other via an Ethernet cable. The rate at which a hub or switch can transmit data depends on the type and speed of the Ethernet cable being used. Generally, hubs can transfer data at up to 700 bytes per second, while switches can transfer data at up to 1000 bytes per second.
