When it comes to a printer that is working normally but cannot be shared, the first thing to do is to make sure the computer that is connected to the printer is set up correctly. There are several things you need to do to make sure it is properly configured.
First, make sure the printer is connected to the network. Depending on the type of printer you have, this could be done through a USB cable, an Ethernet cable, or a wireless connection.
Second, check the drivers on the computer that is connected to the printer. Make sure they are up to date, correctly configured, and installed correctly.
Third, set up printer sharing on the computer. In Windows, this can be done through the Printers and Faxes folder. Right-click on the printer and select Properties, then select the Sharing tab. Check the box next to Share this printer, and then give the printer a descriptive name that is easy to remember.
Fourth, if you’re using a wireless printer, make sure the printer is connected to the same wireless network as the computer. This could mean having to re-enter the wireless network credentials on the printer or reconfiguring the security settings on the router.
Finally, if the printer still won't share, check the firewall settings on the computer. Make sure the printer is allowed through the firewall. If not, add the printer to the exception list.
Following these steps should help you get your printer set up and working properly.
