The Print Properties dialog box consists of several tabs, each containing option settings you can use to control how the printer functions. The Sharing tab affects various aspects of how the printer is shared.
On the Sharing tab, you can specify the printer name and share name. The printer name is the name that Windows assigns to the printer. The share name is the name that other computers will use to access the printer on the network. If you specify a share name, other computers will be able to access the printer using that name.
The Sharing tab also provides options to control whether or not the print spooler is enabled on the computer. If the print spooler is enabled, documents will be sent to the printer in a queue, allowing other computers to print jobs in the order they are sent.
The Sharing tab also contains options for specifying the default settings for the printer. This includes specifying the default quality, printer resolution, paper size and orientation, and other settings.
Finally, the Sharing tab provides options for restricting access to the printer. This includes setting up user accounts or groups that are allowed to print to the printer, as well as option to limit the number of pages that can be printed per job.
The Sharing tab is one of the most important tabs in the Print Properties dialog box. It provides a wide range of options for controlling how the printer is accessed and used by other computers. By setting the appropriate options, you can be sure that your printer is properly shared on the network and that it is used in the most appropriate way.
